Greg and Cia’s Christmas Newsletter 2015
Posted 20th December 2015
First of all, a huge thank you to all who supported us throughout 2015. It has been a fantastic year which we have crammed a lot into. We’ve gigged extensively in this country, recorded a new album, travelled to festivals in Belgium, Spain and Denmark and also begun to play more in other musical guises. On that note, a special thanks to those who, as well as supporting us as Greg Russell & Ciaran Algar, also made it along to Tweed Project gigs and one or more performances of A Day’s Work this year. We’re very much looking forward to 2016 which promises to be just as much fun.
Our third studio album, The Silent Majority, will be released in March and promoted with an extensive tour through March and April. For the April dates we will be sharing the stage with our great friend and superb singer/songwriter, Luke Jackson.
We’re very excited for you to hear the new album. It’s been nearly two years in the making and we are delighted with the outcome. As well as (obviously!) featuring ourselves we’ve enlisted some remarkably talented help from musical friends on percussion, double bass, pipes and female vocals. You can pre-order the album now by clicking HERE. Here’s where we will be on the tour:

There will be plenty more opportunities to see us later in 2016, so keep checking the web site for the latest information. There are also special plans afoot for September 2016 when we will be celebrating 5 years of our collaboration; where has all that time gone?
As well as continuing to gig as the duo, we are both involved in an increasing number of other musical projects, which we are both very excited about. Ciaran will be leading his new band and promoting his solo album at various festivals throughout the year as well as playing with Sam Kelly and The Lost Boys. Greg will be appearing in Nancy Kerr’s Sweet Visitor Band for tours in February and in the autumn of 2016. A Day’s Work, the WW1 folk opera written by Mick Ryan which includes both of us will also be performed several times during the year. This powerful and moving piece is especially poignant in 2016, it being the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme where the second half of the drama is set. There will be further announcements on these projects and others throughout the year! To stay up to date, in addition to our own web site, check out the following:
